I am a practicing advocate in Punjab and Haryana High Court at Chandigarh since 2001. I commenced my legal career from Sessions Court at Jalandhar and learnt the basics of the trial court procedures on the civil, criminal and revenue side.
With about 21 years of experience as a private practitioner, I have dealt with several significant cases on the civil, criminal, revenue and consumer affairs. I have contested on behalf of the farmers of Punjab assisting the Punjab State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission as Amicus Curiae in the “fake Bt Cotton cases”.
I have also conducted writs against illegal sand mining activities around the river Satlej of Punjab. Besides, on the criminal side, dealing with the run away NRI Groom cases, false implications in 498-A IPC matters and some reported judgments by our Hon’ble High Court quashing the charge sheet under section 306 IPC have been notable achievements.
In 2018, the Govt of Punjab appointed me in the training programme of the newly recruited PCS(Punjab Civil Services) officers and I imparted the practical knowledge of Cr.P.C. to the PCS officers. I may be a professional lawyer but my appetite for academic discussions on legal subjects have always inspired me to share my practical experiences with the law students.
My wife and my parents in law being in the legal profession have been a great support and of immense moral support.
I have contested many cases for Local Bodies Department Govt of Punjab and Punjab State Electricity Board. Besides, I remained on the panel of Union of India for some time. My wife represents Indian Bank, Punjab National Bank, Lakshmi Vilas Bank and Union Bank of India before the Debt Recovery Tribunal at Chandigarh and State Bank of India before the Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court at Chandigarh. I was invited as a special guest in Newsroom Debate programme “VichaarTakraar” to participate in debate on illegal sand mining in Punjab which was telecasted on TV news channel PTC Punjabi on April 10,2018.
